A San Jose martial arts instructor was arrested this month for allegedly possessing media depicting sexual abuse of children.

The San Jose Police Department said Friday that 48-year-old Adrian Walter was arrested on July 9 after an investigation by the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) and Child Exploitation Detail (CED) Task Force allegedly found he had downloaded sexually abusive media onto the computer at his San Jose residence.

Investigators with the SJPD Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit and Child Exploitation Detail Task Force launched an investigation into someone who was observed illegally downloading child sexual abuse material from his San Jose residence.

ICAC detectives assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation identified Walter as the primary suspect. In the course of their investigation, detectives uncovered child sexual abuse material and possible chatting with underage females. Detectives also discovered that Walter was a “master trainer” at a martial arts school, according to SJPD.

Walter was listed as an instructor at Seibu Ryu San Jose, which teaches Japanese swordsmanship, as of Sunday. The classes are held at Los Gatos Ballet, in downtown Los Gatos, according to the school’s website, but the two entities are unaffiliated.

A request for comment sent through the school’s website was not immediately returned Sunday.

Walter was also being investigated for potentially chatting with underage girls online. The FBI assisted with the investigation, according to the San Jose Police Department.

Walter was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on allegations of possession of child sexual abuse material.

Police asked anyone with information about the case to contact SJPD detective Simonini at 4458@sanjoseca.gov or 408-277-4102.
